Interview with Abiodun Baruwa M.O.N. in Malta

"These are big big names. We grow up wearing them. So coming out and play against them it was like a dream come true."

"I was selected to represent Africa against Europe. African 11 vs European 11. So I found myself playing opposite Van der Sar."

'You mentioned playing for the national team. How does it feel?'

"I think it's one of the things when I remember is really emotional for me. Because when I was young I had an academy that I have played for, and anytime the national team is playing home game, we as a 12-14 year old boy, they give us like 15 minutes each to play for the fans. You know, let's say the game is at 4 o'clock with the national team, we come in like 2 o'clock. We play 20 minutes. And it's a dream! You know to be able to grow up and - because that's all you wanna do, you want to play for the national team - and having that experience since when I was like 14-15 years. You don't think about nothing else you just want to wear the jersey. We didn't even think about money or anything, but just to be proud at and wear the jersey. And I'm really privileged that it all happened."
